We love stories of people who do animal rescue work and the animals they rescue. We consider those who do this job to be heros. These people don’t rescue animals for the glory of recognition. They don’t do it for the big paycheck it brings them because there are no big paychecks. In fact, a large percentage of them are volunteers. People who work in the animal rescue field do it simply because they love animals.

- Although not about any breed of dog, this You Tube video is one of the most amazing rescue and rehabilitation stories I have ever seen. In July of 2008 the story of Christian the Lion made headlines when it hit YouTube and there wasn’t a dry eye to be found in the house. This actually takes place beginning in 1969 when two men rescued a baby lion cub. This is a follow-up MSNBC video Interview With Christian’s Owners. So grab a box of kleenix and give yourself about 10 uninterrupted minutes to watch both of these videos. Note: This story is the #1 animal story on Animal Planet’s Top 10 for 2008.
